rProtein L Affinity Resin
ProL NUPharose FF is an affinity purification resin prepared by coupling recombinant Peptostreptococcus magnus Protein L (abbreviated as r-PPL or Protein L) to a highly cross-linked agarose gel matrix. Peptostreptococcus magnus Protein L (PPL) binds specifically to the κ light chains of antibodies without affecting their antigen-binding sites.
Compared to Protein A and Protein G, which bind to the Fc region of antibodies, this characteristic allows it to bind a broader range of antibodies from various sources and subclasses, such as human IgG, IgM, IgA, IgE, IgD, and antibody fragments containing κ light chains (human types 1, 3, 4; mouse type 1), including Fab and scFv. However, it does
not bind to heavy chains, λ light chains, or κ light chains (type 2). Consequently, this product cannot be used for the purification of antibodies derived from cows, goats, sheep, or chickens.
